Fabric

January 27, 2008

I bought 14 yards when I went to Wal-Mart – 7 yards of a tan fabric that looks kind of like linen or parchment, and 7 yards of blue fabric. The tan is for a play cloak for myself, to wear in the woods etc., and the blue is to make a cloak for a friend. The best part – they were both a dollar a yard.

I’m reading Raising Dragons by Bryan Davis now, borrowed from Nimelen. It’s interesting.

And today, my vanity was dealt a severe blow ;p (which is a good thing…but still…). I got my hair cut – around 11 inches so I could send it to Locks of Love (they make hair into wigs for kids that lost their own hair to disease). It’s interesting. On the way home, I named numbers and car colors and everything else that I could in French in my head, to keep from crying. When I got home, I did anyway, but it’s grown on me since then (*groan* …my hair has grown on me…). Instead of horrible, it’s now tolerable.

On the bright side, it looks like I’ll be going to the Clean Place moot in June. I’m excited.

God bless you.

Saint

January 19, 2008

I started reading Saint by Ted Dekker on Thursday, and I finished today. I highly recommend this book if you like suspense, intrigue, and unexpected plot turns, and Ted Dekker is a Christian author. I read it because the description sounded like Bourne (of The Bourne Identity, Supremacy, and Ultimatum – I’ve seen the movies but haven’t read tbe books). I wasn’t all disappointed, though it turned out very different from what I assumed at the beginning. But you need to read Showdown before you read Saint to understand some things.

Showdown. I finished reading the book Wednesday, and started the Wednesday before. It’s a good book, but there are some disturbing parts, and I don’t recommend it for anyone who’s not…how shall I say this…spiritually mature (I’m not saying I’m a very mature person in any way ;p but I wouldn’t have wanted to have read this book a few years ago). Summary: The book is about a showdown between good and evil in the small town of Paradise tucked away in the Colorodo mountains. But there is far more going on than what first appears. Of course, to understand things in Showdown, you need to read The Circle Trilogy.

I read the first book in the trilogy, Black, in two days and I stayed up until 3 AM one night to accomplish this because the story is so suspenseful and gripping. The entire trilogy, Black, Red, and White, paints a beautiful picture of God’s love for us, and I highly recommend it. Thomas Hunter, now living in America, is shot in the head by people from his past in the Phillipenes. He blacks out and wakes up in a forest in another world. Each time he goes to sleep in one reality, he wakes up in the other, and he may be the only person who can save both of them from terrible danger.

All of these books are well worth reading. I really enjoyed Saint and The Circle Trilogy. I enjoyed some parts of Showdown, and despite the ones I didn’t enjoy, it’s also a worthwhile read.

Have an amazing rest of your life. God loves you SO much.

P. S. To the person who asked if I’d read a certain book, I haven’t read that one.

Survival

January 15, 2008

I got two new books today! I bought one, and Mom paid for the other for me. They’re The Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook, and the extreme edition. I can get my characters into any situation and get them out again now.

I’m drawing a person in art class. I don’t know who. I used the outline and placement of facial features of Matt Damon’s face, but I’m trying to make it look significantly different. I changed the eyes and hair, for example.

Mom and I just coughed at the exact same time.

That was random.

On the 25, I finally get to go to a Wal-Mart that sells fabric. I’m excited!

God bless you. Have an amazing rest of your life.

Better

January 1, 2008

I’m feeling better today, and I’m going to a mountain with the youth group a little later.

I’m itching to get back to sewing. I had so much cooking and cleaning and other stuff to do before Christmas that I haven’t sewn since before Christmas break. I’m thinking about turning the rest of the black cotton left over from the Renaissance shirt into a tabard, and printing a picture of the white tree of Gondor, cutting it out in white fabric, and sewing it on the tabard. I’m not sure if I’ll actually do this, though. I want to get started on the medieval/fantasy dress as soon as possible.

Have a blessed rest of your life.
